Airsoft HPA PSI: Tank & Regulator Settings

How do I regulate my HPA tank to the correct PSI for airsoft?

Answer:

Regulating your HPA (High-Pressure Air) tank correctly is essential for consistent performance and protecting your airsoft internals. Most airsoft HPA systems operate between 60 and 120 PSI, depending on your engine type and desired FPS output. However, the ideal pressure varies by setup.

Start by connecting your HPA tank to your engine via a remote line and inline regulator. Most quality regulators feature an adjustment screw - turning it clockwise increases output pressure while counterclockwise decreases it. Always make adjustments in small increments, typically 5-10 PSI at a time.

Use a chronograph to measure your FPS output after each adjustment. A lower PSI generally produces lower FPS, while higher PSI increases it. Most outdoor fields allow up to 400 FPS with a 0.20g BB, so tune accordingly. Standard HPA engines like those from standard or standard typically perform best between 70-110 PSI.

Once you find your target PSI, lock the regulator adjustment screw in place to prevent accidental changes during gameplay. Consistent pressure equals consistent performance - and that can make all the difference on the field.
