Storing an HPA rig correctly protects your investment and ensures reliable performance when you return to the field. Follow these steps to keep everything in top condition.

Depressurize the system completely. Disconnect your tank from the line regulator and fire the marker repeatedly until no air remains in the system. Leaving pressurized air in hoses and regulators for extended periods can stress seals and cause premature failure.

Remove the tank from the rig. Store your HPA tank separately, ideally with only a small amount of residual pressure (around 100–200 PSI) to keep internal o-rings seated without overstressing them. Never store a fully pressurized tank indoors for months at a time.

Disconnect and inspect your line. Check your braided or coiled HPA line for cracks, fraying, or worn fittings.

Store components in a cool, dry location. Heat and humidity degrade o-rings, rubber seals, and electronic components inside your engine. A climate-controlled space dramatically extends part longevity.

Lubricate o-rings lightly. Apply a small amount of silicone oil to regulator and engine o-rings before sealing everything up in a protective case.

Log your storage date. When you return, inspect all seals before pressurizing. Tanks common in North American fields typically need hydrostatic testing every three to five years, so keep that schedule in mind.
