HPA Adapters for KC02: M4 vs. X9 Mag Choice
Question:
I want to run my KJW KC02 on HPA using Primary Airsoft's adapter. Should I choose the version that feeds from M4 magazines or the one for X9 magazines, and what practical differences should I expect?
Answer:
The choice comes down to magazine availability, profile, and how you play. The M4 mag version lets you use standard AR-pattern mid-caps or high-caps you likely already own. This is the most economical route if you run an AEG or HPA primary, because you can share spare magazines between platforms. M4 mags are also widely available in every capacity from 30-round low-caps to 200-round drum mags, giving you flexibility for milsim limits or speedsoft volume.
The X9 mag version feeds from the same magazines used in the Action Army X9 / T11 platform. These magazines are slimmer and sit lower in the KC02's magwell, preserving more of the rifle's original carbine profile. That matters if you run a tight chest rig or prefer a shorter length-of-pull. X9 mags also tend to feed very reliably in HPA builds because the feed lip geometry is purpose-built for the engine's nozzle alignment. The trade-off is a separate magazine ecosystem; you cannot swap mags with your M4 buddies, and spare X9 mags cost more per unit.
Both adapters replace the gas valve in the KC02's stock magazine body and include a hardened feed tube, M4 mag release (for the M4 version), and all necessary O-rings. Installation requires only basic tools and takes about fifteen minutes. Whichever you pick, pair it with a regulated HPA rig set to 80–110 PSI for consistent 1.3–1.5 J output on 0.32 g BBs.
Primary Airsoft stocks both KC02 adapter variants — M4 mag and X9 mag — plus spare feed tubes, O-rings, and mag releases at https://primaryairsoft.us/.
