GBB Magazine Lubrication Guide
Question:
How do I properly lube my GBB magazine?
Answer:
Properly lubricating your gas blowback (GBB) magazine is essential for maintaining consistent performance, preventing gas leaks, and extending the lifespan of your seals and O-rings.
Start by completely emptying your magazine of gas and BBs. Never attempt to lubricate a pressurized magazine. Once empty, apply a small amount of 100% pure silicone oil to the magazine's fill valve, feed lips, and follower. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants entirely, as they will swell and deteriorate the rubber O-rings and seals inside your magazine, causing permanent damage.
For the fill valve, inject two to three drops of silicone oil directly into the valve before gassing up the magazine. This allows the oil to coat internal seals during pressurization. Repeat this process every five to ten fills for optimal seal health.
If your magazine is experiencing persistent leaks despite proper lubrication, the O-rings may need replacement.
Wipe away any excess oil from the exterior of the magazine and feed lips to prevent BBs from picking up lubricant residue, which can affect accuracy and barrel cleanliness.
Regular maintenance every few playing sessions will keep your GBB magazine functioning reliably and help you avoid frustrating mid-game malfunctions on the field.
