Fixing HPA Adapter Thread Mismatches

I bought an HPA adapter for my gas blowback pistol, but the threads don’t match my regulator or line. How do I identify whether I have a UAC (Universal Airsoft Connection) or M4-spec thread, and can I make them work together?
Answer:
Thread mismatches are one of the most common headaches when building an HPA system. The two dominant standards in the airsoft HPA market are UAC (often called "G-thread" or 1/8" BSPP) and M4-spec (10-32 UNF).
UAC / G-Thread (1/8" BSPP): This is the wider, coarser parallel thread found on most PolarStar, Wolverine, and Redline regulators, as well as the majority of aftermarket HPA adapters designed for direct tank-to-reg connections. It seals via an O-ring on the adapter face against the regulator body. The female port on a standard UAC regulator measures roughly 9.7 mm OD.
M4 Spec (10-32 UNF): This is a finer, smaller machine screw thread (approx. 4.8 mm OD). It is standard on classic Paintball/ASA tank regulators, many remote line quick-disconnects (QDs), and some older or specialized airsoft adapters. It typically seals with a small O-ring on the male fitting or a crush washer.
They are not cross-compatible. Forcing a 10-32 male fitting into a 1/8" BSPP female port will strip threads and leak.
The Fix: You need a thread adapter. The most common scenario is connecting a UAC-threaded airsoft adapter (male UAC) to a remote line or regulator with a female 10-32 port (or vice versa). Look for a "1/8 BSPP Male to 10-32 Female" adapter (or the reverse) made of brass or stainless steel. Apply PTFE tape on the tapered/NPT sides only; straight threads (BSPP/UNF) rely on the O-ring face seal.
