A jammed AEG can take you out of the game fast, but most field jams are quick to resolve if you know the right steps.

Step 1: Stop firing immediately. Continuing to pull the trigger on a jammed AEG can strip gears or damage the motor. The moment you feel resistance or hear a grinding noise, stop.

Step 2: Remove the magazine. Detach your magazine to prevent additional BBs from feeding into the hop-up chamber.

Step 3: Use a unjamming rod. Most quality AEGs include a cleaning rod. Insert it gently down the barrel from the muzzle end to push the jammed BB back through the hop-up unit and into the receiver, where it can fall free.

Step 4: Cycle the gearbox manually. Many AEGs have a small hole near the gearbox where you can insert a hex key to manually rotate the sector gear and relieve any mechanical tension.

Step 5: Check your BBs. Low-quality or undersized BBs are the leading cause of field jams. Always use premium 0.20g or heavier BBs suited to your hop-up setup.
