First Milsim Event Gear Guide
Question:
What gear do I need for my first milsim event?
Answer:
Attending your first milsim event is an exciting step up from casual skirmishing, and proper preparation makes all the difference. Here is the essential gear you will need:
Airsoft Rifle: A reliable AEG or gas-powered rifle is the foundation. Most milsim events require a minimum engagement distance of 50 feet and enforce strict FPS limits, typically 400 FPS with 0.20g BBs.
Eye and Face Protection: Full-seal ANSI Z87.1-rated goggles are mandatory at virtually every milsim event. Many events also require lower face protection for added safety.
Tactical Vest or Plate Carrier: You will need mag pouches, hydration carrier compatibility, and radio pouches. Milsim events often last 24 to 48 hours, so organization matters.
Magazines and BBs: Bring at least six to eight midcap magazines. High-cap "winding" magazines are frequently banned at milsim events to maintain realism.
Communication Radio: A standard is a popular budget-friendly option for team coordination.
Uniform: Coordinate with your team for matching camouflage patterns such as MultiCam, Woodland, or Ranger Green to ensure proper friend-or-foe identification during gameplay.
Arrive prepared, stay hydrated, and respect the event rules for an unforgettable first milsim experience.
