Choosing the Correct HPA Adapter for Your KWA

Question:

I want to convert my KWA MP7 to HPA, but I am confused about which adapter version I need. How do I identify the correct magazine type for my specific gun?

Answer:

The KWA MP7 platform has two distinct magazine generations that are not cross-compatible with HPA adapters, so identifying yours is the critical first step.

NS1 (Original) Magazines:

• Visual ID: The base plate is secured by a single roll pin running horizontally through the bottom of the mag body.
• Feed Lip: Usually features a distinct "step" or ridge on the feed lip geometry.
• Construction: Often heavier, with a more rectangular base plate profile.

NS2 (Current) Magazines:

• Visual ID: The base plate is secured by a screw (usually Phillips or hex) accessible from the bottom center of the base pad.
• Feed Lip: Smoother, more rounded feed lip transition.
• Construction: Lighter weight, often with a slightly tapered or contoured base plate.

Why this matters: The gas route, valve knocker position, and magazine body dimensions differ significantly between NS1 and NS2. An adapter designed for NS2 will not seal or feed correctly in an NS1 magazine, and vice versa. Using the wrong adapter typically results in catastrophic gas leaks, failure to feed, or damage to the magazine body.

Pro Tip: If you purchased your MP7 new within the last 5–7 years, it is almost certainly NS2. If you bought used or have older stock, check for that roll pin versus the screw.
