Choosing HPA Line Length & Fittings (46 chars)

Question:

What length HPA line and fitting type should I run for a pistol HPA conversion?

Answer:

For pistol HPA builds, a 36-inch coiled line is the sweet spot. It reaches a rear-mounted tank comfortably without snagging on your belt or holster during movement. Straight lines work for fixed rigs but restrict draw speed and prone transitions.

Fitting choice matters. Most modern regulators and adapters use 1/8" NPT threads. You need a swivel fitting on the tank regulator side to prevent line twist when you shoulder or holster. On the adapter side, a straight or 90-degree push-to-connect (PTC) fitting keeps the profile low. Avoid cheap barbed fittings with worm clamps; they leak under vibration and 100+ PSI cycling.

Internal diameter (ID) affects recharge rate. Standard 4mm (5/32") OD / 2.5mm ID line flows enough for semi-auto pistols. If you run a full-auto machine pistol like a G18 or KP9, step up to 6mm OD / 4mm ID line and high-flow fittings to prevent shoot-down during long strings.

Route the line along your weak side, secured with a retention clip or bungee tether. Leave zero slack at the adapter — excess line catches on mag releases and holster lips.
