Angled Adapter Paintball Grip: Is the M4 Mag a Stock?
Ever looked at your angled adapter and thought the M4 mag could double as a stock, paintball style? An r/AAP01owners player asked "Does anyone use an angled M4 HPA adapter as a stock for a paintball style grip?" The short version on the angled adapter paintball grip idea: people have tried it, and most went back.
Does the angled adapter paintball grip trick work?
Player report: replies in that thread say it's not a good stock. An M4 mag is too short, and a lot less stable than a 48ci paintball tank pressed into your shoulder. One player said the slide hit his mask. The slide comes back toward you every shot.
Our product pages describe the angled adapters as letting you use HPA and M4 AEG mags on your pistol, with a CNC machined aluminum mag release on the current versions. They don't mention use as a stock.
Why do people want this in the first place?
Paintball habit, mostly. Paintball players pull the tank into the shoulder. A pistol's a different animal, and the pistol grip entry covers the basics.
So what's the angle for?
Reloads and hand position. Player report: in r/Speedsoft's "hpa adapter opinions (long or angled)," some players say the angled version sits better in the hand and helps when you're low. Others are happy with straight. It comes down to preference. Foregrip vs. Angled Grip on Airsoft Guns covers the same tradeoff on rifles.
Is it against the rules?
Rules on bracing a pistol vary by field and league. Ask first.
Will it hurt the adapter?
Nothing on our product pages covers using the mag as a stock or a brace, so treat it as untested.
What should I do instead?
Get a two-hand grip you can repeat, and pick straight or angled by how you reload. For the loadout around it, SpeedQB Pistol-Primary Loadout is a good read.
Keep your eye pro on, and keep your face off the slide.
